The Because We Care campaign was established in early 2009 by the Australian Nursing Federation and is a national campaign aiming for significant and fair improvements to the aged care industry.

Because We Care.  Three simple words that sum up the dedication of aged care nurses and care staff across Australia.

Our aim is simple - to ensure aged care nurses and care staff have the resources necessary to deliver the best possible care and that vulnerable older Australians have access to quality care, whenever and wherever they need it.

It is also important that the residents who rely on all of us to ensure they are well cared for and their tax dollars are spent wisely.

We must ensure that older Australians are treated with the dignity, respect and care they have earned.

Because We Care has four key objectives for aged care:

1. The right balance of skills and nursing hours so that nursing and care staff can provide quality care for every resident.

2. Pay for nursing and care staff that is comparable to nurses in the public sector, which is often up to $300 per week less.

3. Transparency and accountability in funding, to ensure that every dollar spent is focused on the quality of care received by residents in aged care.

4. Licensing of all workers in the aged care system to ensure that each nurse and carer is adequately trained and supervised to provide quality care.

We need your support.
