The Federal Government has asked the Productivity Commission to develop detailed options for restructuring Australia’s aged care system to ensure it can meet the challenges facing it in coming decades. The commission is particularly interested in receiving submissions from nurses and carers about your experiences with aged care services and your ideas on how the system could be improved.

The ANF will be making a comprehensive submission and we are also seeking the views of individual members for this important inquiry. We need to inundate the Commission with our ideas and concerns to ensure we influence what they recommend to the federal government in their draft report. Nurses and midwives from all sectors can participate in this important activity.

'The ANF has campaigned long and hard for recognition of aged care nurses and staff through our Because We Care campaign. With the May budget, the Federal Government has listened and taken some important first steps.'
